Private tutor in Farmington, MI
Education
Western Michigan University - BA, Communications
Experience
I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University. Then, I went on to study law at Wayne State University Law school. I passed the state bar exam in Michigan in the late 1980s, and have remained an active lawyer in good standing since. I have focused my career on criminal law. Working in both the federal and state court systems have helped me develop outstanding communication skills -- both verbal and written, which I feel is extremely beneficial to the students that I tutor.I really enjoy teaching, and have continually sought out teaching opportunities throughout my 25+ year law career. I spend one week each year teaching a trial advocacy class at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina. I also spent time working at Cooley Law School, where I taught an advanced criminal procedure class. Additionally, I attended an international criminal law seminar in Eastern Europe, and I shared the knowledge I gained with the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the DEA. Also, I've assisted in teaching several educational programs designed to teach the general public the way that state and federal agencies handle criminal investigations and prosecutions.I specialize in tutoring students in literature, English, and criminal justice. However, I'm also available to help students who are struggling with public speaking, US history, and social studies. I enjoy helping students write and edit college essays, and tutor International Baccalaureate Social and Cultural Anthropology, Philosophy, and Theory of Knowledge students.
